From North Yorkshire to the Welsh hills, furry friends are welcome at these beautifully crafted dog-friendly huts by Plankbridge. Just book your summer staycation and bring them along for the stay…
Crabtree in the Woods, Cumbria
Tucked away in enchanting woods on a farm just south of the Lake District, each of the four Plankbridge huts at Crabtree in the Woods has been labour of love, handcrafted and then furnished by Dorothy Wightman Interiors. With a host of lovely local walks on your doorstep, your four-legged friend will enjoy your stay just as much as you do.
What guests say: ‘An added bonus was the skylight above the bed for stargazing! We will definitely be coming back soon!’
The Cockerdale Estate, North Yorks Moors National Park
Housed under the curved roof of a 19th-century Dutch Barn and named after the two coaches that were pulled by Thomas the Tank Engine in the much-loved children’s stories by the Reverend W. Awdry, Annie and Clarabel huts are mirror images of each other. Expect life’s little luxuries, including king-size beds with Italian Othosoft mattresses, wood-fired hot tubs – and waggy tails all round.
What guests say: ‘From start to finish our stay was unbelievable. We sat in the hot tub during the evening watching deer and woke up to see horses munching away right next to our shepherd’s hut.’
Loose Reins, Dorset
For a taste of the old-time Wild West, these pioneer-inspired cabins have everything you need to go exploring, knowing you’ll come back to a hot tub or hot shower, cold drinks in the fridge and a rocking chair on the porch for you and your furry friend to watch the sun go down.
What guests say: ‘The bed was really comfy and sitting on the porch with our feet on the hitching rail with a gin and tonic looking at that view was magic… it was the most amazing place to totally unwind… The dog had a fabulous time!’
Cwt Tyddyn, near Snowdonia
With stunning views of rolling Welsh hills, this little hut in a private area within the Tyddyn Bychan smallholding is full of traditional charm. Light the log burner and cosy up with the dog at the end of the day in the hut’s small but perfectly formed built-in bed.
What guests say: ‘This is a stunning shepherd’s hut – highly recommend. A must-book if you’re looking for a piece of paradise.’
Adbaston Escapes, Shropshire
Watch the sunset from the comfort of an outdoor Swedish bath, enjoy a picnic beside the lake, or simply relax with a good book as the dog snoozes companionably by your side in one of these two luxurious shepherd’s huts.
What guests say: ‘The Swedish bath was very relaxing after a long day out and I will definitely be returning. Our dog loved it too, so win-win!’
