It’s a question I’ve been asked hundreds of times over the years: ‘When’s a good time to order my hut?’ And the equally popular: ‘What’s your lead time?’ My answer is much the same as the old Chinese proverb: ‘The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.’
With the benefit of experience, a very skilled and dedicated team of master hutmakers and a lot of hard work, we now have a great system in place and have managed to get our lead time down to three to four months, which is some feat. That means if you are looking for a hut that you can sit in and enjoy next spring with the whole summer stretching out in front of you, the best time to order your hut for an Easter delivery is right now.
I’ve also found that having waited eagerly for all their spring bulbs to come up, our customers prefer not to have them disturbed when their new shepherd’s hut arrives, so getting the hut in place early is definitely worth considering. We don’t want to be responsible for any crushed tulips and daffodils (I’ve actually gone out of my way in the past to move them carefully to one side to prevent that very thing happening).
You’ll probably be aware that Easter falls at the end of March next year, which is always a deadline for people, whether it’s for a holiday letting or as part of a garden landscaping project, so with the workshop already looking busy for spring into early summer, it could well be worth following that old Chinese proverb and planning ahead now.
