Stay: The Nancy Blackett

With just a few steps over a wooden footbridge, you leave the world behind and arrive on your own private island, where the Nancy Blackett and a wood-fired hot tub make a unique, exclusive retreat. You can fish or take the boat out on the water around you, watch quietly for the abundant birdlife that calls the area home, or row over to yet another island, to lounge on the day bed or light the campfire.

Further afield, the Somerset hills, Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury Tor offer some lovely walks and dramatic views, and you could even venture onto Exmoor or into the Mendips if you feel like a day trip. The temptation though, is simply to stay at home and drift from place to place.

This is a magical place to stay. What a view to wake up to every morning and so remote and peaceful. It was really good for star gazing and our only company was the wildlife. We were lucky with the weather and had a wonderful long weekend. We were able to use the wood fired hot tub and row out on the lake in the little boat. the property was cosy and we cooked pizza in the wood fired pizza oven. This was just what we needed to hide away from the world and relax. I highly recommend this property.

We had a wonderful stay at Nancy Blackett. It was the most beautiful, unique place we have stayed before and it was the perfect place to spend our first wedding anniversary.
